all about automation leipzig 2017

all about automation leipzig gives users from central Germany the chance to learn about the latest developments in industrial automation technology and tasks. The fair makes connections faster and firmer between suppliers and potential buyers. Short distances make more time for a greater number of more intensive discussions with the right contact.

Two successful trade-fair days in Leipzig

In the three fully booked exhibition halls of the Globana Messe Centre, 95 exhibitors showed around 900 visitors what is new in the field of automation technology.
The clear thematic focus and the short travel distances have proven to be a real advantage for the regional fair.

We were represented for the first time this year and were one of the few software manufacturers and service providers on site.

The majority of the visitors came from the field of mechanical and system engineering. Consequently, our software for technical service was perfectly placed and in great demand.

The presentation by Rico Barth drew a large audience to the Talk Lounge and then to our stand.

We had many interesting enquiries and were very happy with the quality of the discussions. We thank everyone who was at our stand and we look forward to many successful joint projects.

KIX Professional – Integrated use of open source software for standardised service and maintenance processes

Industry 4.0/IoT in small and medium-sized companies

Everyone is talking about the upheavals of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. Open development and software platforms and open, standardised interfaces are the crucial criterion. Open source plays an essential role in this. This also has implications for industrial services in the context of fault elimination, maintenance and servicing. If you Google it, the hit lists are rather short.  The KIX software is changing that. Originating from a classic IT service, KIX Professional MRO is an application that combines fault elimination, inventory and equipment management, maintenance and service planning, as well as field service into a single open source program with an open interface architecture. This is a novelty because it meets the requirements of the highly integrable, service-oriented industrial IT of the future. Proprietary, self-contained systems will be a thing of the past in the medium to long term. This is because future devices will talk to their applications and thus make completely new business models possible.

The presentation shows that IT and open source software are now penetrating all areas and how the proven processes and tools of IT Service Management (ITSM) are converging with the services in the industrial environment, thereby making a holistic service approach a reality. Selected practical applications based on the KIX open source service system show how technical equipment, home and building technology, medical device technology, production systems and IT components are brought together in the central service system. Because Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things are very all-encompassing concepts, experience also shows that it is therefore important to start in a manageable framework first and then to grow – open systems and open standards spur these processes on in medium-sized companies.
