Single Sign-On, Location Explorer, Out of Office
KIX version 18.32 brings many new features and enhancements, including OpenID Connect for simplified authentication, the ability to customize KIX, and an "Out of Office" feature. Version 1.8 of the Field Agent application also comes with new features.
Simple single sign-on login?
A simple login is a blessing in a complex work environment. To simplify the login process, KIX now uses the OpenID Connect (OIDC) standard as the identity protocol for access control for agent or self-service portal users.
Keycloak, Gitlab or Active Directory Federational Services (ADFS) can be used flexibly as identity providers (see also: https://learn.microsoft.com/de-de/entra/identity-platform/v2-protocols-oidc). Accordingly, we have decided not to implement SAML-Auth for the time being. If MS SAML is required, please contact us.
Organization is half the battle:
A helpful feature has been added to the KIX CMDB:
In the future, KIX customers will be able to use the Location Explorer to understand where which assets are located by means of a detailed tree view - from the location to the building to the individual rooms, everything is listed in detail and clearly.
In Focus:
Detailed searches can now be saved individually, saving significant time and improving usability.
To simplify editing processes and reduce errors, version 18.32 allows attributes in fields to be set to 'read only'. This reduces the number of incorrect entries and speeds up transaction processing.
Checklists are a popular feature for transparent mapping and processing of various work processes in KIX. It is now possible to define individual status values for checklists - this greatly benefits flexibility and customisation in service management.
With the dynamic "Attachment" field, forms can now request file attachments even without a new article. It is possible to configure which file types are allowed, as well as the maximum file size and number.
To better display long file names, the article attachment display can be expanded. While brevity is the spice of life, a slightly longer filename can sometimes be justified.
So nothing is left to chance:
You or someone in your team is on holiday or away for an extended period of time.
With Out of Office, ticket notifications are turned off, helping to keep your inbox clear. In addition, a small icon shows all users whether the Out of Office feature is enabled for that employee. Clicking on the icon displays the duration of the absence.
To ensure that processes are not left unprocessed during the absence, they can be unlocked for selected departments. (only department or also individual person)
KIX Field Agent App with new features
The KIX Field Agent app is now available in version 1.8. This applies to both Android and iOS. The iOS version includes the enhancements from Android version 1.7.
What has changed?
You can now upload any file as an attachment to your notes. Previously, you could only attach photos from your gallery or directly from your camera.
Checklist statuses are no longer limited to "OK", "NOK", "Pending" and "n.a.", but can be customized.
The Field Agent application now supports offline-capable form input for form field types such as single/multi-line text, date and date/time, single/multiple selections, and table entries. This means that scenarios beyond checklist processing, such as material consumption, data collection, or other entries, can now be easily mapped. In conjunction with automation jobs, field workers can be integrated into complex workflows.
