Digital Service Management for the Public Sector
KIX and ]init[ AG für Digitale Kommunikation, a leading digital transformation service provider for the public sector, have announced the start of their partnership. Their future collaboration aims to provide all service organizations with a custom package of top-tier IT consulting and a digitally sovereign service management solution.
A strong alliance for digitalization
Expertise from Berlin to Chemnitz
With thirteen locations in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, and Portugal, ]init[ AG and its subsidiaries have been among Germany's leading system houses for over thirty years. With KIX, ]init[ is expanding its vendor-neutral ITSM portfolio with an open-source solution. This gives customers from the public and private sectors another option, which they can select after receiving vendor-neutral advice and implement with the technical expertise of ]init[ and the software provider.
KIX Pro: ITIL-certified open source service management for maximum flexibility
As part of the partnership, KIX provides KIX Pro, the leading open source service management software, which can be used for lean service desks, classic IT service management, and cross-departmental enterprise service management. This modular solution can be expanded as needed and is certified in 16 ITIL® 4 practices.
Focus on digital sovereignty
On-premises and European cloud solutions
Since early 2025, both companies have experienced an increase in demand for solutions that are digitally sovereign and can be operated on-premises or in a European cloud. This collaboration provides customers and partners with easy access to consulting expertise and project experience from init[], as well as the right platform from KIX.
Retaining data sovereignty: a clear signal for Germany as a business location
KIX CEO Rico Barth said, “Recent political developments have led to a noticeable shift in thinking. People want to move away from non-EU providers and continue running their ITSM software on-premises on their own servers or in a secure German cloud. This is the only way for companies and institutions to retain data sovereignty in the long term. That's why this cooperation was an obvious choice. We are delighted that we were able to reach an agreement so quickly.”
For Denis Meißner, Director of Application Management at init[], this is also a decisive step: "With KIX, we are creating a new service management option for our customers that considers data sovereignty from the beginning. This allows processes to be reliably controlled without relinquishing control. I am looking forward to the first joint projects."
